" Keeping Craft Alive"

The Taree Craft Centre Inc. is a non profit organisation and welcomes new members to join us to learn new crafts in our groups and classes, sell their wares in our outlet, help out in our Cafe or shop or just be part of our social group.

There are four categories of membership, “Selling” and “Social” and “Helper” and “Life”.

All members are expected to follow our Policies, Guidelines and Code of Conduct.

If you would like to join the Taree Craft Centre contact us for an application form

  • Selling Members are those who wish to sell craft items through Taree Craft Centre Inc. shop.
  • They pay an annual membership fee of $30.00 to help offset the cost of maintaining the sales outlet and volunteer insurance.
  • All selling members are entitled to attend monthly general meetings of the organisation as well as the AGM.

As Taree Craft Centre strives to maintain a high standard of quality in the items they sell, selling members are required to submit an example of their work with their membership form, for assessment.

  • All new members will be given a "New Member Information Pack" which details how the Craft Centre operates.
  • All selling members who produce a different item of craft from time to time, must also have this assessed, before it can be sold.

Selling members are required to work in the craft shop or the Cafe if they prefer – one day per month.

Social Members are people who have an interest in handicrafts and come to the centre for social interaction.  They may be new members and attend our Craft and Chatter days, they may join classes or groups or they may wish to work in the shop or Cafe on a volunteer basis as well.

Social members cannot sell any craft items but they are able to to attend our monthly meetings and the AGM and have voting rights. The annual fee for Social Members is $10.00

This class of membership is reserved for people who are  likely to be short term members such as those helping out at functions or doing Centrelink Obligations. We can arrange for you to work at our outlet or in our Cafe.  Helper members pay no fee, are welcome to come to meetings but have no voting rights and cannot sell craft.   Helper members are covered  by our Volunteer Insurance.

Life members are those people who have made an outstanding contribution to the Taree Craft Centre over a number of years showing significant leadership, exceptional innovation in our activities, strong support for what the Centre does and stands for as well as enhancing our standing in the community.  Life membership is only awarded to members with the above qualifications and is based on nominations and approval at meeting level.
